The Clearwater Bullets, The City of Clearwater Parks and Recreation Department, in conjunction with the National Alliance for Youth Sports and in partnership with the Clearwater Threshers are proud to announce the sixth annual City of Clearwater Excellence in Youth Sportsmanship Award Nominee for the Clearwater Bullets.

Breanna Malone
18U Walter

At the core of sportsmanship is respect…for oneself and for all other participants, including players, coaches, officials, parents, and administrators.  Respect and sportsmanship means treating all participants with integrity and fairness and honesty.  Sportsmanship is the ability to win without gloating or lose without complaining. I’m happy to say that Breanna met & exceeded the criteria set forth by the City of Clearwater

There was no minimum age requirement and nomination was open to any young athlete who is currently on our organization’s roster. We asked that every manager within the Organization review the minimum qualifications for this award and nominated a qualified individual for this award. The criteria for the award are:
  • Congratulating teammates and opponents for effort and excellent performances.
  • Shaking hands wherever it fits into a sports culture.
  • Helping up a teammate and opposing players who have fallen or been hurt.
  • Thanking officials for their effort and work.
  • Keeping facilities clean, both home and away.
  • Avoids taunting and trash talking.
  • Avoids disrespectful, "in your face", celebrations.
  • Does not condone fighting or violence of any kind.
  • Does not use profanity or other disrespectful language.
This year the Clearwater Bullets were faced with some tough choices due in part to the four (3) nominees presented to the Board of Directors by each Team Manager. Each of the nominees met and or exceeded the qualifications set forth by the City of Clearwater and every one of them would have represented the Bullets Organization with Pride and Honor. It is our opinion that all of the nominees nominated were all well deserving of this award and recognition and should be commended for their qualities both on and off the field. Each and every one of them exemplifies what our Organization stand for and what separates us apart form other Organizations within the sport. The nominees were as follow:
  • Ross 12U: Andrea Vargas
  • Gamache 18U: Jordan Bennett
  • Walter 18U: Breanna Malone

Congratulation Ladies!

The City is in the process of coordinating a very special event for Co- Sponsor Group nominee & their families, which the details will be announced in the near future. The awards ceremony will be open to Breanna and her parents.

I know the recipients from last six years enjoyed themselves and were proud of the recognition they received from this award; and we (The Clearwater Bullets) look forward to next years (2011) nominee.

On behalf of the Clearwater Bullets Board of Directors, Managers, Coaches, the entire Bullets family and the city of Clearwater, I would like to thank Breanna Malone, her parents and everyone within the Clearwater Bullets Organization for all of your dedication and efforts as we work together to create “Better Sports For Kids…Better Kids For Life”, Within the city of Clearwater.

Respectfully Yours,
Frank Lopez, President
